Buying in 2017? 5 Steps You Must Take Now.

  1. Find a good Real Estate Agent (Preferably Me). It's okay to interview multiple, however customary to stick with one who is dedicated to helping you find the best home for you and representing you and only you. The best agents provide Buyer's Consultations. 
  2. Schedule an appointment with a Lender. Your Real Estate Agent can help you find someone who will match your needs and provide a smooth transition for your new home purchase. Get Pre-Approved! 
  3. Don't buy anything or Open New Credit Cards. This can be a negative ding on your Credit Score and harm your lending process or rate. Put your Cards away until after you secure the home. 
  4. Create Multiple forms of Resources for finding a home. Let everyone know you are looking including friends, family and co-workers. Sign up for automatic feeds from Zillow, Trulia, Realtor.com, FSBO.com. Be sure your Real Estate agent has set you up on an automatic feed from the local MLS for your criteria. Also, be sure they set you up with the local search provider (Listingbook in Northern Nevada) so that you can double check available homes with the not-so-accurate Zillow/Trulia sources. 
  5. Be Ready! Get your current home ready for the move by getting rid of those things you no longer need. Be knowledgeable about the market you are in. If its a Sellers market, you may need to move fast when you find that perfect home.
