Finding a Mentor

Image
Finding a Mentor or Coach Finding a Mentor or Coach can be a daunting task. It's important you realize you are interviewing mentors, and, they are not all created equally. I've been mentoring and coaching other real estate agents for just under a year now and have realized some of the things people are looking for are exactly what I can offer.  Through a desire to be the best darn mentor/coach I can be, I am constantly trying to improve and research for better ways to help others.  Through coaching and mentoring others, it's helped me to be accountable to having reliable systems, tools, & schedules within my own business. Having duplicatable models I can share with others is crucial. A year ago, today, I set out on a mission to find a coach/mentor who matched my ideal image of a mentor. After realizing I outgrew my TR coach I had after only one year, I ventured out seeking out someone new who could help me with my business at the level its at now. After inter

FEED THE FUNNEL

Image
THE FUNNEL EFFECT We all have heard of the Funnel Effect in real estate? Well, if you haven't, here it is. If you have, here is a reminder: This funnel reminds us we must constantly be adding leads to our funnel to create business. There is now business and future business. We must work on both of these to be successful. Feeding the funnel is a process. You cannot just get a lead and forget about it if they are not ready just yet. We must consistently be in front of them, so when they ARE ready, they remember who we are.  Recently, I had an old client call me telling me how he forgot my name. It wasn't until he was watching a Thor YouTube video and remembered my name. Not sure how that played out. His email had changed and he was no longer getting my drip campaign. How could this happen??? Luckily he googled my name and found me to call me. He and his wife have been touch and go since 2016 when I first went and did a Listing Presentation for them.  Shame on me f

Always in a Job Interview

Image
Always in a Job Interview Once upon a time I was an 18 year old teller at a Big corporate bank. One of the clients who would come in regularly and make very large deposits told me during a conversation once, "You never know who's going to walk through that door and be impressed by you. Act and dress like you are always in a Job Interview."  This rings so true in every aspect of one's life.  Recently, I have come across some very unimpressive people. I cannot tell you how many people I know or come across who ask me if I know of anyone looking to hire.  I'm always evaluating people and how they interact with others. If someone impresses me, hands down, I will vouch for them and give them praise... or hire them for myself.  If they are dressed sloppy or casual all the time (which is okay, if your profession calls for it), and do not show common courtesy and thoughtfulness to others, or they complain or talk poorly of others I may think twice or not at

GUEST AGENT ETIQUETTE & TIPS (A Guest Agent is a licensed Active Agent who is doing business as a Real Estate Agent  who is NOT the DESIGNATED HOST of the Open House.) Agents work hard at providing good service to their clients and to others in order to obtain a good reputation in the business and to build a happy repeat business. Open Houses are one service we provide clients, as Agents. It is important we respect those who are hosting Open Houses and respect the homes of the sellers allowing these Open House events. RESPECT is the name of the game. Always think of the "Shoe on the other foot" or "If it were mine" and be super respectful that Open House Specialists are running a business and their goals and business should be respected. Here are a few tips in etiquette for you guest agents: Do not stroll up on another agent’s Open House and start passing out cards or getting your leads. (Note: Hold your own open house. Do not be a thief! That’s

Come From Contribution

Image
ALWAYS COME FROM CONTRIBUTION All to often people are asking, requesting, needing, wanting, taking, and using everything they can get. People forget the position of coming from contribution.   They forget about the answering, giving, providing, loving, & thanking. A year ago my coach directed me to read a book called "The Magic" by Rhonda Byrne. After a week went by, I was on my coaching call again and he asked me what I thought of the book. I said I had not read it, but ordered the book and it was coming that day. Another week passes and he asks again. I told him I read through the beginning, but was looking forward to getting through it that week and reporting back. Directly, he informed me, "It's not that kind of book.... " He mentioned I would be reading one section every day and following through with each section's instructions. Confused by that statement, I was intrigued and continued to read to find out what he was talking about.  As I re
